This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.
• Act as the functional expert for SAP Transportation Management Event Management features.
• Provide guidance on capturing events, tracking milestones, handling exceptions, issuing alerts, notifications, and ensuring process visibility.
• Convert business and operational needs into functional specifications and solution designs that align with SAP S/4HANA, SAP TM, and enterprise integration architecture.
• Direct design and configuration choices concerning transportation milestones, freight order and freight unit status tracking, event profiles, expected events, actual event reporting, exception monitoring, alerting, and visibility dashboards.
• Maintain alignment across SAP TM, EWM, MM, SD, GTS, master data, interfaces, reporting, and event feeds from external carriers or logistics partners.
• Advocate for process standardization, system usage, data quality, governance, and strategies for organizational change.
• Balance mission objectives, operational limitations, technical viability, and SAP best practices.
• Convert logistics visibility requirements into structured needs, user stories, business process flows, and functional design documentation.
• Assess configured event management solutions against business requirements, operational scenarios, exception workflows, and reporting necessities.
• Assist with deployment planning, data readiness, cutover activities, defect triage, user readiness, and transition to operations.
• Contribute to the development of training materials, user guides, standard operating procedures, process documentation, and operational playbooks.
• Identify adoption risks related to event quality, interface readiness, user behavior, and process ownership, and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Propose enhancements based on operational data, user feedback, defect trends, and evolving mission requirements.
• Collaborate with government stakeholders, functional leads, technical teams, and integration partners on a large-scale JTMS implementation within a DoD environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in SAP, logistics, supply chain, transportation management, or enterprise systems.
• At least 5 years concentrating on SAP TM and/or transportation event management capabilities.
• Proven expertise in supporting SAP TM implementations, enhancements, sustainment, or modernization efforts in large enterprises, federal, or DoD environments.
• Practical experience with transportation event tracking, milestones, status management, exception handling, alerts, notifications, visibility processes, and operational reporting.
• Experience in translating operational needs into functional designs, configuration guidance, integration requirements, test scenarios, and user-facing process documentation.
• Background in supporting end-to-end transportation processes across planning, execution, carrier coordination, freight order management, shipment visibility, settlement touchpoints, and exception resolution.
• Proven ability to assist government stakeholders, compliance reviews, design reviews, requirements traceability, and regulated implementation settings.
• Active Secret clearance is required; candidates lacking a current Secret clearance may be eligible for company-sponsored processing, depending on contract requirements and client approval.
• Advanced functional knowledge of SAP Transportation Management, including freight orders, freight units, transportation planning, execution, tracking, and integration touchpoints.
• Strong understanding of SAP event management concepts, including expected events, actual events, event handlers, milestone monitoring, exception management, alerting, and visibility reporting.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA logistics processes and integration with EWM, MM, SD, GTS, FI/CO, and master data governance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Solution Manager, Signavio, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of data quality, auditability, traceability, role-based access, cybersecurity, and reporting standards in DoD or federal environments.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience with executive-level briefings and stakeholder facilitation.
• In-depth understanding of transportation operations, logistics visibility, event-driven process management, and enterprise system transformation.
• Capacity to collaborate with government stakeholders, vendors, functional teams, technical teams, and cross-functional delivery partners.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, drive decisions, and adhere to tight deadlines.
• Capability to develop practical, mission-aligned solutions to complex transportation visibility and exception management challenges.
• SAP Transportation Management certification is highly preferred.
• SAP S/4HANA or relevant SAP logistics certification is desired.
• ITIL Foundation certification is preferred.
• Agile, SAFe, PMP, or equivalent delivery certification is preferred.
• Company-sponsored Secret clearance processing may be available for candidates who do not currently possess a Secret clearance, depending on contract requirements and client approval.
• Remote work arrangement.
• 10% travel schedule (every 12 weeks to Scott AFB).
