Sales – Rare Disease Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Market BioCryst products in a compliant manner to clients in the Los Angeles, California region

• Oversee the territory extending from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, Nevada

• Engage in effective customer discussions utilizing sales techniques and marketing strategies to generate and enhance demand for the promoted brands

• Cultivate and deepen understanding of key customers

• Create, sustain, and refresh an active customer database

• Formulate strategies to efficiently utilize marketing materials and programs

• Manage significant accounts

• Craft business plans with resource allocations aligned with business outcomes

• Establish and nurture relationships with primary decision-makers and opinion leaders

• Organize and coordinate compliant promotional programs

• Execute field activities such as lunch-and-learns, customer in-services, and other customer engagements

• Accurately and promptly complete expense and administrative reports

• Report call details in a timely fashion

• Participate in training programs, conventions, and symposia as requested

• Exhibit accountability, urgency, and dedication to sales objectives

• Collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders while sharing best practices

• Follow company compliance guidelines, policies, and procedures

• Execute other duties as assigned


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualifications are mandatory

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical and/or biotech sales is required

• Experience in Rare Disease and small companies is preferred

• Experience in academic or teaching institutions is advantageous

• Start-up commercial experience is a plus

• Established relationships with key accounts in the designated geography are beneficial

• A strong history of surpassing sales objectives, including national recognitions such as President’s Club

• Proven success in selling within a territory where the candidate served as the sole commercial salesperson

• Demonstrated capability in developing and implementing effective rare disease sales skills and achieving results

• Knowledge of relevant disease states and available treatments

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and business acumen

• Proven ability to innovate, grow business, and work both independently and collaboratively

• Ability to quickly grasp complex information

• Excellent negotiation abilities

• Understanding of reimbursement processes

• Familiarity with the territory

• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record

• Willingness to travel as necessary or required, including overnight and/or weekend travel
