Sales Manager – Commercial and Industrial Sector

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Lead and oversee the entire commercial sales process from the initial inquiry to the contract award and handover.

• Foster client engagement, strategize solutions, pricing, and conduct commercial negotiations to secure new business opportunities.

• Identify, qualify, and convert potential opportunities across major sectors including SMEs, corporates, and the public sector.

• Develop and sustain strong relationships with key stakeholders such as clients, developers, architects, and engineers.

• Supervise technical assessments and client consultations in partnership with the engineering team to ensure solutions are both technically sound and commercially feasible.

• Perform preliminary basic calculations for irradiance, shading, and loss factors to aid in solution design and financial modeling.

• Ensure that all proposed solutions comply with regulatory standards, financial models, and client specifications.

• Collaborate with engineers and designers to create system layouts, energy yield forecasts, and technical solutions that meet regulatory and financial requirements.

• Lead the creation and presentation of high-quality proposals, tenders, and commercial offers in conjunction with sales engineering and pre-construction teams.

• Take responsibility for commercial negotiations, contracts, and agreements, working closely with legal, procurement, and operations teams.

• Provide guidance and support to clients in assessing ROI and accessing relevant financial incentives and grant opportunities.

• Manage and sustain a robust sales pipeline, ensuring accurate tracking of opportunities, forecasts, and conversion rates via CRM systems.

• Report on sales performance, pipeline health, and key account activities.

• Offer market insights regarding customer needs, competitor behavior, and pricing strategies to promote business growth.

• Meet agreed sales targets.

• Assist with any additional responsibilities that may arise within the role.


⛳️ Requirements

• A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Business, Renewable Energy, Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Environmental Science, or a related field is essential; a master’s qualification is preferred.

• Additional certifications in business, sales, or project management are advantageous.

• A solid understanding of renewable energy technologies is a must; knowledge of solar PV systems is a plus.

• Experience delivering contracts under FIDIC and/or NEC frameworks is desirable.

• Proven track record in the construction or engineering sector is essential.

• 7–10 years of experience in technical sales or business development, preferably within the renewable energy or engineering services sectors.

• Demonstrated capability to manage the complete sales lifecycle, from client engagement to contract closure.

• Experience in preparing and managing tenders for public and/or large-scale private sector projects.

• Strong commercial awareness, including contract negotiation skills and collaboration with legal and procurement teams.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Capacity to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across various functions.

• Full, clean driving license and readiness to travel across Ireland as necessary.

• Full right to work in the UK.

• Flexibility to attend industry events and client meetings outside of standard business hours when needed.
