Sales Engineer III

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with industrial clients to understand operational requirements and design suitable control system architectures based on limited information.

• Create estimates for comprehensive integration solutions that encompass engineering, control panel fabrication, desktop HMI setup, PLC programming, field installations, and commissioning.

• Analyze proposal specifications and drawings to provide estimates for industrial electrical projects.

• Estimate costs for new construction projects as well as retrofit upgrades.

• Identify potential opportunities to upgrade aging industrial infrastructure, including migrations from legacy Allen-Bradley PLC-5 systems.

• Attend pre-bid meetings and visit job sites for accurate take-offs.

• Prepare project take-offs, submittals, and proposals.

• Solicit vendor quotes for equipment and materials, particularly for PLC and HMI hardware/software.

• Ensure timely completion of client-required documentation.

• Draft scope inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications for estimates.

• Recognize and fulfill customer needs, expectations, and requirements.

• Maintain professional interactions with employees, vendors, clients, and others.

• Keep backup working files that support estimate figures and supplier pricing.

• Assist other department personnel, including those involved in estimates for other disciplines.

• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in the industrial electrical sector.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimating.

• Journeyman Electrician license is preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.

• Strong functional understanding of various PLC platforms and broader industrial networks.

• Capability to conceptualize and specify complete PLC/HMI hardware and software solutions with limited customer input.

• Background in automation and controls, including PLCs, instrumentation, valves, mechanical control panels, and electrical control panels is advantageous.

• Familiarity with NECA rates, structures, and limitations.

• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA-70E.

• Understanding of material quoting processes, RFQs, and vendor interactions.

• Ability to address or escalate specification conflicts, drawing inaccuracies, and queries from drawing packages.

• Familiarity with estimating/installing electrical raceway, including cable tray, EMT, rigid, IMC, and plastibond, along with associated fittings and accessories.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and automation construction drawings, wiring details, installation details, P&IDs, layout drawings, panel drawings, and BOMs.

• Ability to interpret complex construction specifications related to electrical, automation, and control-related mechanical methods.

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, AutoCAD/AutoCAD LT, Adobe Acrobat/Bluebeam.

• Advanced/expert proficiency in Accubid, including databases, projects, custom assemblies, labor rates, difficulty modifiers, and LiveCount.

• Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to engage with customers, contractors, owners, and specialty equipment suppliers to clarify scopes of work and required materials/equipment.

• Capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
