This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Serves as the technical-commercial liaison between Walter and its clients within the Lightweight/PCD sector.
• Promotes growth by recognizing opportunities, fostering robust technical relationships, and applying a disciplined, strategic approach to customer engagement.
• Develop, drive, and execute sales initiatives and processes in partnership with regional sales teams.
• Represents PCD/Lightweight at key customer sites; dedicates quality time on-site (minimum of 1 hour) during each visit.
• Conducts 2–3 customer visits daily, concentrating exclusively on designated accounts.
• Establishes trust with engineering, production, and purchasing teams while identifying challenges across departments.
• Actively seeks out opportunities in aluminum/PCD machining.
• Provides expert advice on machining processes, cutting tools, PCD applications, tool setup, and programming.
• Understands cycle times, process variables, machining enhancements, and addresses bottlenecks.
• Converts customer challenges into actionable tasks for internal engineering teams.
• Collaborates closely with Engineering, Operations, and Business Development to ensure the quality, feasibility, and timely execution of quotations.
• Follows up on quotations, reports, ROI calculations, simulations, and escalates issues as per established processes.
• Maintains disciplined use of CRM for tracking interactions, opportunities, deliveries, and issues.
• Supports strategic customer initiatives, prototype stages, and qualification activities.
• Contributes to global knowledge-sharing, best practices, and ongoing improvement efforts.
• Conducts market research to identify growth areas (e.g., EV, Tier 1 aluminum machining).
• Manages a designated account portfolio, typically comprising 6–8 customers per LSE.
• Works towards specified revenue, ROI, opportunity, and visit KPIs in alignment with BD & MD.
• Submits weekly agendas and activity plans to ensure alignment.
• At least 3 years of experience in a leading cutting tools, aerospace, automotive, or machining industry within engineering, sales, product management, or a similar role in a multinational context.
• Bachelor's degree (preferably in Engineering) or equivalent educational background.
• Demonstrated experience in comparable business development or sales positions.
• Knowledge of cutting tools or machining applications.
• Strong grasp of commercial management and sales strategies.
• Proficiency in English (both spoken and written).
• Competence in Microsoft Office tools at a user level.
• Familiarity with the company’s products, including their features, applications, and specifications.
• Knowledge of machining processes, PCD tools, technical drawings, measurement systems, and CNC programming.
• Understanding of aluminum machining and the production of lightweight components.
• Proficient in solution-based selling, negotiation, identifying decision-making criteria, and cost-per-part justification.
