
Sales Business Development – Environmental and Food Testing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.
• Act as Agilent's subject matter expert in the Environmental and Food testing sectors, possessing in-depth knowledge of customer workflows, market trends, regulatory influences, funding sources, purchasing behaviors, and competitive landscapes.
• Mentor and empower the field sales team on market-specific opportunities, customer priorities, workflow discussions, and effective strategies for market engagement.
• Build and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders, industry influencers, commercial laboratories, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to enhance Agilent's market footprint and uncover new opportunities.
• Track and relay market trends, emerging applications, and regulatory changes—including topics such as PFAS, new contaminants, microplastics, and food authenticity—to assist sales teams in prioritizing and shaping opportunities.
• Collaborate with divisions, segment marketing, product specialists, and field application scientists to ensure the field organization has access to the necessary market intelligence, tools, and resources for effective customer engagement.
• Support strategic customer interactions where extensive market knowledge, workflow expertise, or industry connections can expedite opportunity development.
• Deliver voice-of-customer insights to divisions, marketing, and business leadership concerning customer needs, workflow challenges, competitive activities, and emerging market opportunities.
• Recognize and help develop multi-portfolio opportunities by aligning customer challenges with Agilent's comprehensive solutions, including instrumentation, consumables, software, informatics, and services.
• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Over 4 years of experience in direct sales, demonstrating the ability to establish and maintain relationships with customers, key opinion leaders, industry organizations, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
• Proven expertise in Environmental or food testing markets, with the capacity to coach commercial teams on customer workflows, market trends, competitive dynamics, and effective go-to-market strategies.
• Experience in influencing and driving outcomes within a matrix organization without direct authority.
• Strong comprehension of analytical laboratory workflows and the capability to connect customer challenges with enterprise solutions encompassing instrumentation, consumables, software, informatics, and services.
• Outstanding communication, presentation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage both commercial teams and senior customer stakeholders.
• Capability to synthesize complex market, customer, and competitive data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to identify emerging market trends, customer needs, and growth opportunities, translating them into guidance for commercial teams to shape opportunities.
• Willingness to travel approximately 15-25% of the time, primarily for customer engagement, strategic account support, field collaboration, industry conferences, and internal business meetings.
