This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Oversee all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) functions at the designated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project site.
• Provide guidance and supervision to site safety personnel as needed (Safety Coordinators / Safety Professionals, etc.).
• Execute and uphold the Site-Specific Safety Plan (SSSP), standard operating procedures, and BESS Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
• Collaborate with project leadership to synchronize safety execution with project timelines, workforce, and construction milestones.
• Implement and oversee safety measures tailored to BESS installation and commissioning tasks.
• Assist in the field implementation of electrical safety protocols, including NFPA 70E standards, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), barricading, and energy isolation controls.
• Work with electrical and commissioning teams to pinpoint and manage risks associated with interconnection, testing, and energization processes.
• Emphasize safe practices concerning high-energy systems, temporary conditions, and evolving site hazards.
• Ensure adherence to relevant OSHA, state, and local safety regulations, alongside Moss company standards and client requirements.
• Aid in the execution of EHS compliance strategies, training programs, and recordkeeping obligations.
• Perform regular field audits, inspections, and observations to assess control effectiveness and safe work methods.
• Keep safety documentation up to date and assist in site preparation for internal and client audits.
• Direct emergency response planning and implementation for the job site.
• Manage and support the reporting of incidents, investigations, and root cause analysis for site occurrences and near misses.
• Guarantee the prompt completion of corrective measures and verify their effectiveness in the field.
• Track leading and lagging indicators to detect trends and proactively mitigate risks.
• Conduct safety stand-downs, coaching sessions, and field engagement as necessary.
• Foster strong working relationships with project operations, subcontractors, and client safety representatives.
• Support site-level safety meetings, client interaction meetings, and coordination with corporate/regional safety leadership.
• Lead through influence and collaboration while maintaining accountability to Moss safety standards.
• At least 5 years of relevant EHS leadership experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field (preferred).
• BCSP Certification (minimum CHST).
• Experience in BESS, solar, substation, or industrial electrical projects is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA 1926 regulations (particularly regarding high-risk construction tasks).
• Understanding of NFPA 70E principles.
• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures.
• Experience with electrical hazard controls in construction settings.
• Capability to lead on-site safety execution, coach teams, and collaborate effectively across operations and subcontractor teams.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation abilities.
• Proficiency in both verbal and written English is required; bilingual Spanish skills are preferred.
• Willingness to travel and work at designated project sites as required.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Safety Management Professional (SMP), or equivalent recognized safety certification.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Experience with incident management systems, field audits, and safety coordination with clients.
