This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Oversee and execute Occupational Safety, Health, and Risk Management initiatives at field camp sites and associated Antarctic operations.
β’ Act as the main point of contact for safety and health matters for ASC operations and field camps, both on-site and off-site.
β’ Formulate and enforce risk management strategies, plans, and tools.
β’ Ensure that station, field, and related operations adhere to safety and health program standards and relevant Federal regulations.
β’ Conduct regular site evaluations and safety assessments at USAP stations and field camps.
β’ Offer safety and risk management support to directors, managers, and camp leadership.
β’ Aid in incident investigations and perform root cause analyses.
β’ Conduct industrial hygiene and safety surveys, documenting the findings.
β’ Operate and maintain health and safety equipment.
β’ Provide technical reports on improvement strategies and project progress to the H&S Manager.
β’ Support the EHS team with analysis, report generation, and project execution.
β’ Engage in pre-season science and sustain operations reviews, planning meetings, and relevant project and field-operation discussions.
β’ Deploy to McMurdo Station, Antarctica, and other Antarctic station and field environments.
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Safety Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field is required; equivalent relevant experience may be accepted in place of a degree.
β’ At least 5 years of experience with safety and health regulations, standards, and effective safety programs.
β’ Familiarity with plant operations and/or construction safety, fire protection, public health, and the development of related training programs.
β’ Field experience in supporting logistics base operations for remote work camps, particularly in heavy industrial or construction settings.
β’ Capacity to adjust to extreme weather conditions, including strong winds and low temperatures.
β’ Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
β’ Capability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance; the process may take up to 4 months.
β’ Relevant experience in Antarctic or Arctic ESH is preferred.
β’ CSP or CIH professional certification is favored.
β’ Must successfully complete physical, dental, and psychological evaluations required for winter-over deployment roles.
β’ Deployment to Antarctica is mandatory.
