This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.
• Manage various critical projects and programs of medium to large scale to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
• Offer technical safety consulting services to internal stakeholders.
• Identify, assess, and suggest strategies to reduce employee injuries and illnesses through hazard identification, accident investigations, audits, ergonomic evaluations, and reviews of accident history.
• Conduct targeted work site and crew observations to spot safety excellence and potential hazards.
• Provide annual safety audits and focused self-assessments to assess hazard controls and programs.
• Deliver insights to business unit management regarding regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with local safety committees, employees, and management.
• Assist in the development and direction of safety programs and review audit findings.
• Monitor and interpret safety and health regulations and suggest compliance options.
• Create training lesson plans and deliver regulatory compliance training, which includes new-hire orientations and annual OSHA-mandated training.
• Maintain professional expertise by attending development conferences and seminars, and keeping professional certifications up to date.
• Participate in task force committees focused on regulatory compliance or continuous safety improvement.
• Act as a resource for management and employees regarding safety regulation interpretation and compliance.
• Engage and influence management to foster safety responsibility and leadership.
• Support site management with contractor safety inquiries and compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with contractor safety consultants during overhauls and projects.
• Travel across Wisconsin, including overnight stays, to provide safety coverage for up to 26 hydroelectric generation and maintenance facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A recognized safety certification is required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in the safety field.
• Certified Safety Professional designation (BCSP) is preferred.
• NFPA 70E training is required.
• Experience in the hydroelectric power generation sector is preferred.
• Familiarity with Human and Organizational Principles.
• Experience in a unionized workforce environment.
• Ability to analyze safety performance metrics and trends.
• Experience with Process Safety Management implementation.
• Proficient in developing and conducting electrical LOTO audits.
• Maintain professional certifications.
• Up-to-date knowledge of current safety regulations.
• Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays, throughout Wisconsin.
