This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the aircraft design subject matter expert (SME) for CD&A during meetings, industry forums, program evaluations, technology showcases, and operational tests.
• Provide guidance to leadership on strategic planning initiatives, identifying avenues for future concept development, tool enhancements, and their application to both manned and unmanned air vehicle systems.
• Employ government-standard tools, such as NASA Design and Analysis of Rotorcraft (NDARC), for comprehensive aircraft modeling and performance evaluation.
• Conduct trade studies in collaboration with TDD customers and stakeholders to investigate requirements trade space and offer insights on the implications of aircraft designs concerning operational needs.
• Assist in the development of trade studies in partnership with TDD customers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to CD&A's long-term planning efforts, sharing expert insights on tool development, reviewing long-range project strategies, and shaping strategic direction.
• Mentor new hires and fellow engineers, promoting proficiency in aircraft design principles, analytical techniques, and engineering best practices.
• Over 12 years of experience in the conceptual design of manned/unmanned rotorcraft systems, including estimating aircraft performance, weights, and costs.
• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Direct experience in developing aircraft designs and estimating performance using NDARC and AIDEN.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and lead technical initiatives with minimal supervision.
• Hands-on experience conducting aircraft trade studies to delineate and analyze trade space.
• Experience in guiding and developing junior engineers within technical teams.
• Proven track record of briefing senior leadership effectively.
• Demonstrated capability to lead technical discussions, reviews, and working groups.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and retain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
