This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Design, create, test, and maintain software applications that facilitate warehouse automation operations.
• Develop services that coordinate fleets of autonomous mobile robots, manage inventory movement, oversee order fulfillment workflows, handle workstation activities, allocate warehouse resources, and orchestrate and route tasks.
• Create scalable APIs, event-driven services, and user-facing applications.
• Produce clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code.
• Engage in architecture and design review sessions.
• Construct highly available microservices and systems driven by events.
• Establish reliable communication between warehouse systems, robots, and external integrations.
• Design systems capable of handling high transaction volumes, ensuring resiliency, fault tolerance, and graceful recovery.
• Develop integrations that connect warehouse execution software with robotic fleet management systems.
• Assist with task dispatching, route execution, status monitoring, and exception handling.
• Collaborate with Robotics Engineering teams to enhance operational efficiency.
• Design software interfaces that support simulation, testing, and production deployments.
• Partner with QA and Simulation Engineering teams to validate software using digital twin environments.
• Engage in simulation-based testing and validation of operational scenarios.
• Support automated testing strategies.
• Monitor and enhance application performance.
• Investigate production incidents and implement corrective measures.
• Participate in on-call support rotations as needed.
• Analyze operational metrics to identify areas for system improvement.
• Contribute to the development of technical roadmaps and the evolution of architecture.
• Improve development processes, deployment pipelines, and engineering standards.
• Evaluate and assess new technologies and frameworks.
• Mentor junior engineers and disseminate technical knowledge across teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Strong expertise in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience in building distributed systems and APIs, including Kafka and MQTT.
• Familiarity with key-value stores, such as Redis, and NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of software design principles and architectural patterns.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
• Knowledge of Flutter/Dart is a plus.
• Prior experience in warehouse automation, logistics, supply chain, robotics, or industrial systems is preferred.
• Experience in developing event-driven architectures is preferred.
• Familiarity with real-time operational systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of robotics platforms or fleet management systems is preferred.
• Experience with simulation environments or digital twins is preferred.
• Understanding of optimization, routing, scheduling, or resource allocation systems is preferred.
