Revenue Cycle Compliance Auditor – Resident Trust

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kansas, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Conduct routine and targeted audits of Resident Trust in PCC and RFMS across skilled nursing facilities and other relevant communities.

• Examine Resident Trust bank activities, resident ledgers, deposits, withdrawals, checks, cash transactions, shopping activities, receipts, supporting documentation, and reconciliations.

• Trace transactions from their authorization to disbursement and final documentation.

• Review withdrawal documentation and checks to ensure proper authorization, signatures, witnesses, receipts, supporting documentation, unusual payees, and other exceptions.

• Assess deposits for timely and accurate recording in resident accounts.

• Audit bank reconciliations, resident-level balances, cash-box reconciliations, and other safeguards.

• Monitor accounts of discharged and deceased residents for timely resolution and refunds.

• Analyze accounts with high resident balances and activities that may raise Medicaid/resource-limit or compliance concerns.

• Conduct analytical reviews to uncover unusual or higher-risk transaction activities.

• Maintain audit workpapers and relevant supporting documentation.

• Document exceptions and convey findings to facility, regional, and corporate leadership.

• Escalate significant discrepancies, suspected misuse of resident funds, repeated control failures, and compliance issues.

• Track corrective actions until resolution is achieved.

• Assist in the development and maintenance of Resident Trust audit tools, forms, controls, policies, procedures, and best practices.

• Provide education and guidance to Business Office and facility staff.

• Collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership, facility operations, Compliance, Finance, and other departments during investigations and corrective action reviews.

• Act as a backup auditor for PCC revenue and financial reporting audits, revenue validation, account and payer reviews, and other Revenue Cycle compliance assessments.

• Support cost report audit preparation and relevant documentation.

• Assist with audit requests from Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and other payers.

• Aid in responding to regulatory, financial, external auditor, ownership-transition, and other Revenue Cycle documentation requests.

• Execute special audits, investigations, data validation, and Revenue Cycle projects assigned by the Director of Revenue Cycle Management.

• Uphold confidentiality of sensitive information.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.

• Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, healthcare Revenue Cycle, Business Office operations, accounting, auditing, or compliance is required.

• Strong analytical abilities to review detailed financial transactions, identify discrepancies, trace activities across various records or systems, and differentiate between documentation errors and issues that need further investigation.

• Excellent written communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, independent judgment, and follow-through.

• Ability to objectively and factually identify and communicate compliance concerns.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential.

• Capacity to learn and operate within various financial and healthcare information systems.

• Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) and/or RFMS Resident Trust is highly preferred.

• Familiarity with Resident Trust, resident funds, SNF Business Office operations, Medicaid, Medicare, insurance billing, healthcare financial audits, or Revenue Cycle compliance is preferred.

• Previous experience in auditing, accounting, reconciliation, fraud prevention, financial investigation, or internal controls is highly desirable.

• Knowledge of reimbursement and regulatory requirements for skilled nursing facilities is advantageous.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality concerning resident, financial, employee, and proprietary company information.
