This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take complete ownership of the internal Retool tooling stack - responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing all internal tools within the organization, including administrative UIs, CRUD interfaces, and data dashboards.
• Collaborate with all teams - engage directly with various teams throughout the company to comprehend their workflows, pinpoint bottlenecks, and create tools that enable them to operate more efficiently without relying on Engineering for routine tasks.
• Focus on speed over perfection - quickly deliver functional solutions, gather feedback, and iterate - a tool that is operational and beneficial today is preferable to a flawlessly engineered one that takes three months to launch.
• Develop automation, notifications, and alerting - implement workflows that present the right information to the appropriate individuals at the right moment, so teams don't have to manually monitor dashboards or seek status updates.
• Transform data into actionable insights - create dashboards and reporting interfaces that provide teams with direct access to the necessary data for decision-making, without needing SQL or data engineering assistance.
• Extensive experience with Retool - you should be highly knowledgeable about Retool!
• Strong foundation in data fundamentals - understands the functionality of databases and datastores, can model data effectively, write efficient queries, and select the appropriate storage tool for each task.
• Demonstrated experience in integrating APIs, including navigating real-world challenges such as authentication, pagination, and error management.
• Proficient in Javascript and SQL.
• Capable of taking an ambiguous problem, consulting with affected individuals, scoping it into a buildable solution, and delivering it with minimal supervision.
• Generalist background with diverse experience across various tools, frameworks, and problem types - you are not tied to a specific stack and can adapt to whatever the task requires.
• Experience in Developer Experience or internal platform work (preferred).
• Strong product intuition and focus on UX - internal tools are essentially products, and you are committed to creating interfaces that users genuinely enjoy interacting with.
• Flexible working hours
• High levels of autonomy and ownership
