Retirement Operations Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Evaluate and process requests for participant loans and distributions, including hardship withdrawals, rollovers, terminations, and required minimum distributions (RMDs), adhering to plan provisions and relevant regulations.

• Confirm participant eligibility for loans and distributions based on plan documents and participant status.

• Ensure precise calculation of loan repayment schedules and applicable tax withholdings.

• Conduct daily cash reconciliations and address any discrepancies.

• Address inquiries from plan sponsors and participants concerning loans, distributions, and general 401(k) operations.

• Monitor incoming emails and phone calls, offering timely and professional assistance.

• Communicate the rules, procedures, documentation requirements, and processing timelines of the plan.

• Identify opportunities to enhance operational workflows, efficiency, and service delivery.

• Investigate and resolve participant and plan-related issues while maintaining accuracy and a high level of customer service.

• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth daily operations and a positive client experience.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong mathematical, analytical, and/or accounting capabilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently.

• Strong initiative, integrity, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

• Comfortable with learning new technologies and adapting to changing processes.

• Ability to communicate professionally with plan sponsors, participants, and other stakeholders.

• Experience working with busy professionals and managing time-sensitive requests.

• Previous experience in retirement plan administration, particularly with 401(k) plans, is preferred but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with Sungard Relius and/or Schwab RT is preferred.

• Proficiency in Spanish is a plus, though not required.
