Research Assistant – Senior, Early Childhood

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.

📋 Description

• Assist in managing multiple Early Childhood research initiatives concurrently under the guidance of staff.

• Collect data and insights from participants and relevant stakeholders.

• Create project documentation and tools for data collection.

• Conduct surveys and interviews, as well as administer questionnaires.

• Compile and analyze research findings.

• Recruit participants for studies and maintain communication with them.

• Organize and schedule interviews, focus groups, and meetings.

• Take notes and summarize discussions for teams, clients, and stakeholders.

• Aid in scheduling, managing participant incentives, tracking budgets, preparing progress reports, and handling mailings.

• Perform observations, interviews, surveys, and other forms of data gathering.

• Assist in literature reviews by gathering and synthesizing relevant research.

• Organize and maintain study data, including data entry, cleaning, and quality assurance checks.

• Create tables and graphs for data presentation.

• Conduct basic quantitative analyses utilizing Stata, R, or similar statistical software.

• Analyze qualitative data using Dedoose, NVivo, and fundamental thematic coding techniques.

• Organize project documentation and monitor deadlines.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree, ideally in a social science discipline.

• Proven capability to conduct entry-level research in a social science area.

• Strong attention to detail along with effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience conducting literature reviews.

• Exceptional writing abilities, including the skill to convey complex information to general audiences.

• Excellent organizational and task management capabilities.

• Strong communication skills for teamwork and collaboration.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to follow and provide guidance as necessary.

• A background check will be required upon hiring, subject to the results.

• Submission of a resume/CV, cover letter, a brief writing sample, and three professional references is mandatory.

• Two to three years of applied research experience beyond college coursework may qualify candidates for the Senior Research Assistant position.

• Experience in early childhood research or policy, applied research environments, Spanish-language research, and familiarity with Stata/R is preferred but not mandatory.
