Remote Pilot Operator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.

📋 Description

• Serve as the pilot and various controllers within the Air Traffic Controller training simulator.

• Manage simulated radar displays and voice communication systems during both medium- and high-fidelity training exercises.

• Receive voice instructions from controllers and other sources.

• Enter data into the automated system to mimic pilot actions.

• Convert displayed information into suitable air traffic control terminology.

• Communicate with controllers through the voice communication system using correct phraseology.

• Achieve classroom certification by successfully passing a test on airspace and procedures.

• Obtain lab certification by acting as a Remote Pilot Operator across all positions.

• Assist in SAIC's FAA training and related services for air traffic controllers utilizing ERAM Offshore Automation.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be a US citizen with the capability to acquire and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

• At least a high school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Basic proficiency in computer usage.

• Ability to read and understand materials such as diagrams and manuals.

• Capable of speaking clearly and being easily understood.

• 1 to 4 years of experience as a Remote Pilot Operator (RPO).

• Experience in a multidisciplinary team setting is preferred.

• Strongly desired, but not mandatory, is experience and certification in ATC Tower, TRACON, or En Route simulation labs.

• Preferable to have direct technical and operational ATC experience.

• Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.

• A working knowledge of FAAO JO 7110.65 is highly desired but not required.

• Effective skills in team building.

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).

• Basic familiarity with current technological tools (tablets, notebooks, applications, etc.).

• Basic understanding or experience with pilot/controller communications or phraseology.

• May require operational expertise in the functioning and maintenance of National Airspace System (NAS) facilities, systems, subsystems, and equipment.
