This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of operational reliability, observability, release coordination, and continuous delivery health for the CMS Drug Data Processing System (DDPS) and Payment Reconciliation System (PRS) production environments.

• Coordinate and implement production releases, which include deployment readiness validation, cutovers, post-implementation validation, and rollback execution.

• Maintain real-time monitoring and observability utilizing AWS CloudWatch, Splunk, Splunk On-Call, New Relic, and Datadog.

• Propel reliability enhancements, automate remediation processes, minimize manual operational tasks, and boost resilience and MTTR.

• Manage alerting and on-call runbooks; facilitate incident response and escalation in partnership with cybersecurity and DevSecOps leadership.

• Plan and execute disaster recovery assessments, failover/failback exercises, and validate RTO/RPO with cloud architecture.

• Oversee release schedules, validation reports, and maintain stakeholder communications.

• Provide coverage during peak operational periods and take part in the on-call rotation.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or release management within production federal systems.

• Practical experience with AWS CloudWatch (Logs, Events, Alarms), Splunk, and Splunk On-Call/VictorOps.

• Familiarity with New Relic and Datadog for application performance monitoring.

• Proven experience in coordinating production releases, cutovers, and rollback execution on mission-critical systems.

• Experience in developing and maintaining operational runbooks, alerting rules, and SRE playbooks.

• Knowledge of Linux environments, including RHEL, CentOS, and Amazon Linux 2.

• Proficiency in Bash scripting for operational automation.

• Ability to successfully pass CMS and internal required background checks for public trust.

• Must be eligible to work from one of the designated U.S. states: Virginia, District of Columbia, Maryland, Tennessee, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon, or Texas.

• Position is contingent upon contract award.
