This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.
• Assist health system administrators and managers in their decision-making by providing financial information and analysis.
• Aid management in the creation of business plans and various special projects.
• Ensure completion of third-party cost reports that are accurate, compliant, and well-documented.
• Analyze financial and statistical data utilized in reimbursement reports.
• Confirm and evaluate rate calculations and final settlements from third-party payers as well as governmental agencies.
• Stay updated on reimbursement accounting and financial analysis methods in healthcare.
• Support third-party cost report audits and handle inquiries from third-party auditors, external auditors, and internal auditors.
• Reconcile revenue between hospital financial reports and reports from third-party payers or governmental agencies.
• Prepare interim cost reports for independent audit reviews, annual budget estimations, and case mix systems.
• Provide reimbursement rate details to Accounting for the calculations of monthly contractual allowances.
• Regularly review monthly contractual allowance calculations.
• Identify areas that may require formal appeals to third-party and governmental agencies and prepare appeal documentation.
• Assist with unique reimbursement and cost study analyses, along with the collection of statistical data.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Business Administration preferred.
• Two to four years of experience in finance, ideally within the healthcare sector.
• Familiarity with federal and state laws and regulations impacting institutional healthcare providers.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and technical methods for financial analysis in healthcare institutions and health systems.
• Capability to interpret statutes and regulations, CMS guidelines, GAAP, GAAS, professional audit guides, and reimbursement principles.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and data extraction software.
