This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Korea.
• Offer extensive legal and regulatory support to local business teams in Korea, encompassing general legal counsel, contract analysis, and negotiation support across various legal domains such as local commercial law, corporate law, labor law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
• Actively identify regulatory and legal risks, suggest solutions, and foresee support requirements to deliver strategic and pragmatic legal advice to local teams.
• Keep abreast of, interpret, and maintain current knowledge of Korean laws, regulations, and regulatory changes pertinent to the business, providing strategic counsel to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements, offering comprehensive risk assessments and recommendations that align business goals with regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
• Lead the creation, execution, and management of local legal and compliance initiatives, including continuous regulatory strategy and interaction with Korean regulatory authorities.
• Assist internal stakeholders with regulatory submissions, licensing, and addressing regulatory inquiries or investigations in Korea.
• 5-8 years of experience in regulatory legal roles, ideally in the payments, fintech, or cryptocurrency sectors.
• Familiarity with legal and regulatory practices related to Korean financial regulations, including involvement in licensing or direct engagement with Korean regulatory agencies.
• In-house legal experience in Financial Services, Fintech, Technology, or similar regulated industries is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Korean regulatory and compliance frameworks, alongside a solid grasp of local laws impacting the financial and technology sectors.
• Proven ability to provide practical legal advice that balances regulatory obligations and business interests.
• A demonstrated history of working autonomously in a fast-paced, global environment, effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams across various locations.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a knack for delivering clear, actionable advice under tight deadlines.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments, compliance reviews, and enhanced due diligence in a regulated setting.
• A proactive approach with robust project management skills, capable of independently managing complex legal and regulatory projects.
