This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Oversee assigned regulatory compliance initiatives, including handling complaints, conducting regulatory research, performing compliance reviews, audits, examinations, process evaluations, and managing regulatory communications.
• Analyze laws, regulations, bulletins, and guidance to assess their impact on the business and propose actionable recommendations.
• Review business processes, procedures, forms, and operational practices to pinpoint compliance risks and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Investigate regulatory complaints, compile necessary documentation, coordinate with internal departments, and draft responses for regulatory entities.
• Carry out regulatory research and present summarized findings to Compliance leadership and business stakeholders.
• Support internal and external audits, market conduct examinations, regulatory inquiries, and compliance assessments.
• Create reports, documentation, correspondence, and other materials pertinent to regulatory activities and leadership updates.
• Collaborate with Legal, Product, Claims, Underwriting, Customer Service, Operations, and other departments to address regulatory challenges and enforce compliance requirements.
• Stay informed about regulatory changes and assist in updating policies, procedures, workflows, and operational practices accordingly.
• Identify patterns, process deficiencies, and operational risks, proposing corrective measures or improvements where necessary.
• Maintain precise records, documentation, and tracking tools related to assigned regulatory tasks.
• Engage in special projects and undertake additional responsibilities as required.
• Offer guidance, training, and support to team members.
• Represent the Company in a professional manner when engaging with regulators, external requestors, and internal stakeholders.
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred; equivalent experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, insurance operations, or a related field will be considered.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, complaint resolution, audits, insurance operations, or a similar field.
• Strong background in Personal Auto underwriting.
• Familiarity with insurance operations, regulatory requirements, complaint handling protocols, and compliance practices.
• Capacity to assess processes, recognize trends, interpret data, and suggest enhancements.
• Skill in managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and competing obligations effectively.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Capability to provide guidance, training, and support for team members.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, uphold confidentiality, and adjust to evolving business priorities.
• Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with Regulatory Affairs personnel, Legal Counsel, cross-functional business units, and external partners.
• Competence in communicating clearly and professionally with regulators, external requestors, leadership, peers, and stakeholders.
• Effective time management skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Must be adept at navigating multiple systems and screens concurrently.
