Regional Safety Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Act as the main Health & Safety contact for the Central Region.

• Assist in the implementation and ongoing enhancement of Apex Health & Safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards.

• Collaborate with leadership from regional, division, branch, program, project, and field teams on safe work planning and execution.

• Perform field visits, site safety observations, office inspections, and project safety evaluations.

• Guide and mentor employees, supervisors, and managers on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and risk mitigation.

• Evaluate JSAs, HASPs, Ground Disturbance Plans, variance requests, and other project safety documentation.

• Assist with incident reporting, response, investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action tracking, and WorkCare or workers’ compensation follow-ups.

• Support fleet safety, driver compliance, and FMCSA/DOT compliance initiatives.

• Identify safety trends, recurring risks, operational deficiencies, and opportunities for continuous improvement within the region.

• Create and present safety communications, toolbox talks, safety alerts, newsletters, and engagement materials.

• Organize regional safety meetings, participate in Safety Committees, and facilitate safety roundtables.

• Aid in onboarding safety, field readiness, PPE requirements, medical surveillance coordination, and training follow-ups.

• Assist with Cornerstone training assignments, troubleshooting, and tracking.

• Provide safety compliance support specific to subcontractors, clients, and projects.

• Engage in the development of Health & Safety programs, Management of Change reviews, and cross-functional initiatives.

• Foster a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, coaching, follow-ups, and effective communication.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 7 years of relevant health and safety experience in support of field operations.

• Proven track record of implementing safety programs in practical, field-oriented environments.

• Experience in conducting field safety inspections, observations, audits, or project evaluations.

• Background in supporting incident investigations, root cause analyses, corrective action development, and follow-ups.

• Solid understanding of OSHA regulations and practical safe work methodologies.

• Knowledge of JSAs, HASPs, hazard assessments, PPE selection, and project safety planning.

• Ability to effectively communicate with field employees, supervisors, managers, and senior leadership.

• Excellent coaching, facilitation, written communication, and organizational abilities.

• Capacity to work independently in a remote or distributed work environment.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and common safety management systems.

• Willingness to travel within the Central Region.

• Specific examples demonstrating field safety leadership, incident response, safety coaching, program implementation, project safety assessments, or corrective action follow-ups.

• Preferred but not mandatory: safety certifications such as CHST, ASP, CSP, or OHST.

• Preferred but not mandatory: a degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Preferred but not mandatory: experience in environmental consulting, construction, remediation, industrial settings, utilities, fleet/DOT, training, Cornerstone, WorkCare, ISNetworld, Avetta, or Veriforce.
