This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Address, investigate, and resolve employee relations concerns promptly and comprehensively.
• Recognize employee relations patterns and potential risks, escalating as necessary.
• Offer training on investigation processes, documentation, and escalation protocols.
• Counsel managers on HR-related inquiries involving progressive discipline, terminations, wage and hour questions, policies, and procedures.
• Educate managers and supervisors on employee relations practices and conflict resolution techniques.
• Create additional training programs as required.
• Identify regional trends in wage-and-hour compliance and training deficiencies.
• Assist the Senior Compliance Manager with content development and training for leaders.
• Stay informed about upcoming state and local legislation relevant to the region.
• Act as a primary contact for Regional People inquiries.
• Coordinate resolutions with the Shack Support Center and redirect issues to cross-functional partners.
• Provide technical HRIS assistance in Workday and payroll-related support in collaboration with the payroll team.
• Oversee the interactive process for accommodation requests in compliance with the ADA.
• Administer Shake Shack’s background check process in accordance with local jurisdictional regulations.
• Conduct HR audits across the region, monitor metrics, and identify training and process improvement opportunities.
• Address legal requests as necessary.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience.
• Experience handling complex personnel issues and conducting investigations.
• Proficient in thoroughly documenting investigations and performance-related matters.
• Familiarity with case management systems.
• Experience delivering training both virtually and in-person.
• Knowledge of managing accommodations under the ADA and state-specific accommodation guidelines.
• Understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
• Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage competing demands effectively.
• Capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while mitigating risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that are clear and concise.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience supporting multi-unit and multi-state/jurisdiction retail or restaurant operations.
• Proven experience managing a significant volume of complex employee relations cases.
• Geographic preference includes Northern California, Washington, Oregon, or Colorado.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification preferred.
• Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees preferred.
