This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Lead the implementation of organizational practices focused on employee support and wellbeing, encompassing compensation, benefits management, engagement initiatives, and staff requests.

• Operationalize daily tasks and collaboratively design new practices informed by market assessments, industry standards, and the evolving landscapes of Canadian and Indigenous non-profits.

• Serve as a backup for various People & Culture activities during departmental initiatives, periods of leave, and peak times.

• Update and maintain payroll, GRRSP, benefits packages, and telehealth records and systems.

• Conduct thorough research on compensation and benefits, providing structured recommendations based on findings.

• Generate annual reports on compensation and benefits for executive and board-level decision-making.

• Develop methods to enhance employee engagement and support Culture & Recognition programs.

• Review and assess policies and practices, suggesting improvements where necessary.

• Design, administer, and analyze internal surveys and data collection processes.

• Act as the primary point of contact for People & Culture inquiries, providing confidential and empathetic support to employees.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders regarding employee requests that require additional support.

• Assist with People & Culture projects, strategic initiatives, procedures, and the integration of best practices.

• Identify gaps in tools, SOPs, and workflows, co-leading iterative improvements.

• Maintain internal knowledge bases, records, files, and documentation.

• Implement cultural safety and trauma-informed practices across policies and organizational practices.

• Promote staff wellbeing, trust, belonging, and foster relationships with community organizations.

• Provide mentorship to managers and team leads on relational accountability and adaptive change practices.

• Facilitate team learning cycles that involve reflection, feedback, and necessary course corrections.

• Participate in staff meetings, working groups, committees, and community engagement initiatives.

• Assist with occupational health and safety measures, reporting hazards, incidents, and injuries.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in compensation and benefits management.

• At least 3 years of experience in designing and leading engagement initiatives.

• Experience within values-based, Indigenous-led, or trauma-informed organizations.

• Strong administrative skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently.

• Proven proficiency in written and verbal communication.

• Excellent organizational and time management abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

• Demonstrated capability to lead cross-functional projects and foster shared ownership of outcomes.

• Ability to conduct in-depth research on industry standards, cultural engagement, legal obligations, and role-specific practices.

• Understanding of provincial legislation related to ESA, OHSA, AODA, and other compliance regulations.

• Previous experience in anti-racism or cultural inclusion is a plus.

• Experience in research, data analysis, or program design is advantageous.

• Certification or post-secondary education in a related field is beneficial.

• Payroll, research, or strategic HR certification is an asset.

• Experience working with Indigenous youth communities is an advantage.
