This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Philippines.
• Serve as a liaison between global and local operations.
• Customize and implement global People initiatives for the region, ensuring their effectiveness, local relevance, and compliance.
• Evaluate whether global strategies will resonate well in SEA, identify gaps early, and influence how changes are communicated and executed on-site.
• Relay regional trends, risks, and opportunities back to HQ to ensure our global strategy remains aligned with local realities.
• HR Business Partnering
• Deliver focused People Partnering assistance to a specific client group within the region.
• Assist with local organizational design and reorganizations, total rewards benchmarking, country expansions, and the implementation of people initiatives and programs.
• Act as the timely, trusted partner for sensitive people issues and intricate regional challenges.
• Compliance, Risk & Local Expertise
• Take ownership of regional employment compliance and people risk in collaboration with Location Partners and Employment Legal.
• Serve as the regional subject matter expert on local laws, regulations, and cultural nuances across the diverse markets of SEA.
• Function as the escalation point for complex employee relations issues and lead responses to critical regional events such as natural disasters, safety incidents, or significant regulatory changes.
• Have a comprehensive understanding of the benefit offerings in each country, advising on local benefit gaps that affect talent attraction and retention where COEs may lack full visibility.
• Culture & Community
• Contribute to scaling Canva’s culture in a manner that feels locally authentic and inclusive.
• Track engagement and organizational health across the region, utilizing people data and insights to enhance engagement, retention, and employee experience.
• Facilitate regional connections, events, and leadership engagement.
• Regional People Leadership
• Lead and nurture a team of four across People Partnering, People Relations, and Location Partners.
• Establish regional priorities, ensure clear ownership within the People ecosystem, and mentor your team to excel in a matrixed, global context.
• Provide leadership and connection for the local People team, promoting alignment and collaboration across various People functions to guarantee cohesive delivery.
• Demonstrated experience as a senior HR Business Partner in a complex, global setting.
• In-depth knowledge of the employment landscape in the Philippines, and ideally South East Asia, including regulatory requirements, cultural nuances, and local market dynamics.
• Proven track record of leading and developing People teams, including managing dotted-line and matrixed relationships.
• Strong judgment in navigating ambiguity and making complex, sensitive people decisions.
• Ability to influence without authority and build trust with senior leadership.
• Comfort in operating with significant autonomy while recognizing when to involve others.
