This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +1 more state.
• Cultivate and oversee relationships with state, county, city, and municipal government agencies within a designated territory.
• Engage government clients through a mix of email, phone calls, direct mail, virtual meetings, and face-to-face visits.
• Conduct initial in-person customer visits within a 100-mile radius of your home base, with opportunities for expansion as business needs develop.
• Attend local government events, meetings, and functions to connect with key decision-makers and influencers.
• Create and implement regional sales strategies to achieve or surpass revenue, margin, and growth targets.
• Drive new customer acquisition while enhancing existing government accounts through upselling and cross-selling initiatives.
• Sustain a robust and active sales pipeline that meets a minimum of four times the annual revenue goals.
• Prepare and present budgetary quotes, proposals, and product demonstrations that align with agency requirements and purchasing processes.
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of government agency structures and departmental functions, including public works, police, fire, emergency services, and other municipal operations.
• Monitor and achieve specified activity metrics, including calls, emails, proposals, and meetings.
• Accurately forecast sales and report on pipeline health, regional performance, and growth prospects to senior management.
• Acquire expert-level knowledge of Generac products, systems, and sales programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.
• At least five (5) years of business-to-business sales experience.
• Proven experience selling to state, county, city, or municipal government customers.
• Familiarity with government procurement processes, purchasing frameworks, and budget cycles.
• Strong skills in prospecting, negotiation, and closing.
• Capability to manage lengthy sales cycles and intricate sales opportunities.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and pipeline management abilities.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while fulfilling high activity and performance expectations.
