Regional Director, Medical Science Liaison – Eastern USA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversee regional medical affairs initiatives that facilitate the execution of Phase 3 clinical trials.

• Cultivate and sustain scientific collaborations with investigators, key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), academic institutions, and integrated delivery networks.

• Assist in investigator and site engagement efforts, which encompass trial awareness, protocol education, patient identification strategies, and OD referral initiatives.

• Act as a scientific resource for investigators and site personnel by delivering clinical and protocol-related assistance throughout the study execution process.

• Lay the groundwork for a scalable field medical organization, with a focus on future team growth, organizational design, and leadership of Medical Science Liaison professionals across various geographic areas.

• Foster engagement with targeted healthcare systems, physician enterprise groups, HMOs, academic institutions, and strategically important ophthalmology accounts.

• Aid in the development and implementation of quarterly engagement objectives across primary target accounts and strategic customer segments.

• Represent SpyGlass Pharma at scientific congresses, advisory boards, investigator meetings, and clinical insight sessions.

• Assist with congress planning activities, including scientific exchange planning, meeting coordination, and gathering field medical insights.

• Enable compliant scientific exchange with healthcare professionals regarding clinical data, disease state education, and pipeline development initiatives.

• Collaborate with Commercial and Medical Affairs leadership to aid in the identification, onboarding, and training of the speaker bureau.

• Collect and relay field insights, competitive intelligence, and unmet medical needs to internal cross-functional teams.

• Work closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure the alignment of medical strategies and field activities.

• Maintain extensive scientific and clinical knowledge of ophthalmology, glaucoma, ocular hypertension, and related therapeutic areas.

• Ensure that all activities comply with relevant regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards.

• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned geography and participate in national conferences, investigator meetings, and corporate meetings as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred advanced scientific or clinical degree (PharmD, PhD, OD, MD, NP, or PA).

• At least 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device sectors, including experience in field medical affairs or MSL leadership.

• Strong preference for experience in ophthalmology, retina, glaucoma, ocular hypertension, or related therapeutic fields.

• Preferred experience in supporting Phase 3 clinical programs, investigator-sponsored research, or clinical trial site engagement activities.

• Solid understanding of clinical trial operations, GCP, FDA regulations, and compliant scientific exchange practices.

• Proven experience engaging with healthcare providers, academic institutions, integrated delivery networks, and key opinion leaders.

• Exceptional scientific communication, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.

• Capability to analyze and convey complex scientific and clinical information to various audiences.

• Strong organizational skills with the capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and matrix organizations.
