
Conservation and Science Director – Latin America Region

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Latin America.
• Design and enhance transformative, science-driven conservation strategies throughout Latin America that achieve measurable results aligned with TNC's 2030 objectives, ensuring that scientific rigor is foundational to all regional programs.
• Assist in the effective execution of priority strategies and interventions across the region, including monitoring and evaluation systems that assess conservation impact, while fostering synergies and shared learnings.
• Enable the allocation of global and regional resources and expertise, ensuring efficient communication and collaboration among teams and functions, while supporting joint programming, fundraising, and applied science efforts.
• Lead a diverse team of conservation professionals across various countries, promoting a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and innovation while aiding their growth and career advancement.
• Propel the regional research agenda through internal collaborations with TNC global teams and partnerships with universities, institutions, and external stakeholders.
• Engage in the Latin America Region’s (LAR) leadership committees and represent LAR on the global Science Advisory Committee as well as in pertinent international forums.
• Oversee the development of the regional conservation budget and financial management, collaborating with development teams to align transformative strategies with funding opportunities.
• PhD degree in a science-related field with 10 years of relevant experience in Conservation Science or a comparable combination of education and experience, demonstrating a strong understanding of social sciences.
• Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and working within or alongside a matrixed organization.
• Background in applied science for the design and execution of ambitious strategies and interventions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to convey and clarify complex processes and ideas to a diverse range of audiences, including staff, donors, consultants, and external partners.
• Fluency in English and proficiency in either Spanish or Portuguese.
• Willingness to travel, as support will be provided to teams across nine countries.
