• Lead, mentor, and expand a team of Field Engineers to support enterprise opportunities within your designated vertical.
• Collaborate closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to facilitate high-quality technical discovery, demonstrations, and proofs of concept with strategic and Fortune 500 clients.
• Take ownership of the initial build-out of the vertical Field Engineering practice, which includes organizing field events, creating industry-specific materials, developing customer stories, and fostering strong executive relationships.
• Establish best practices for evaluations, execution of proof-of-concept projects, and technical deal strategies tailored to the unique buyers, compliance requirements, and workflows of your vertical.
• Act as an escalation point for intricate customer evaluations and high-stakes enterprise agreements.
• Recruit, onboard, and cultivate top-tier Field Engineering talent with relevant experience in the vertical; set clear expectations and career development paths.
• Serve as the voice of the field internally, relaying vertical-specific customer and prospect insights back to Product and Engineering teams.
• Ensure seamless handoffs with post-sales teams to facilitate successful customer onboarding and adoption processes.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Cursor's products, roadmap, and competitive landscape.
• Possess 3+ years of experience leading Field Engineers, Solutions Architects, or Pre-Sales teams focused on a specific vertical or strategic/Fortune 500 accounts.
• Demonstrated expertise in selling to or supporting accounts within one or more of our target verticals (High Tech, Retail, Life Sciences, Financial Services, Public Sector, Aerospace, Healthcare) — direct industry experience is highly advantageous.
• Proven success in selling to and engaging with technical buyers, including developers, architects, CTOs, and their counterparts in regulated or complex sectors.
• Strong technical foundation and fluency in contemporary software development workflows, AI tools, and enhancing developer productivity.
• Entrepreneurial mindset: adept at building from the ground up, creating enablement resources, organizing field events, and developing the vertical playbook without a predefined template.
• Proven ability to effectively collaborate with Sales while maintaining technical integrity and customer confidence.
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence, capable of engaging with both technical and business stakeholders at the largest accounts within your industry.
