This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Maryland.
• Conduct onsite installation, basic repairs, preventive maintenance, calibrations, updates, and operational qualifications on analytical and laboratory instruments.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, vacuum, software, and networking issues with assistance from senior engineers and technical support as needed.
• Address customer service requests promptly and professionally.
• Record all service activities, repairs, parts usage, and customer interactions in the company service systems.
• Maintain consistent communication with customers regarding service schedules, system status, and repair updates.
• Provide support for customer operator training on instrument usage, maintenance, and best practices.
• Aid senior Field Service Engineers during intricate installations, escalations, and significant customer projects.
• Oversee and maintain assigned company tools, testing equipment, service inventory, and vehicle stock.
• Travel daily within the designated territory to customer laboratories, research facilities, manufacturing sites, and universities.
• Engage in technical training programs, certifications, and self-study to enhance product knowledge and technical skills.
• Work collaboratively with Technical Support, Applications, Sales, Engineering, and fellow service engineers to address customer concerns.
• Adhere to all company safety protocols and laboratory compliance requirements when handling high-voltage systems, chemicals, and scientific equipment.
• Provide flexible scheduling and occasional emergency service coverage as dictated by customer and business needs.
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or a related technical/scientific discipline.
• Previous field service experience is not necessary; however, internship, co-op, military technical training, or laboratory instrumentation experience is preferred.
• Fundamental understanding of electronics, mechanics, vacuum systems, and troubleshooting of computer hardware/software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Capability to read and interpret technical documentation, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and basic networking concepts.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently while also effectively collaborating with team members.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned territory (50–75%).
