📋 Description

• **Job** **Responsibilities**

• Regional Business Development - pipeline development

• - Identify and cultivate a pipeline of viable WSS infrastructure opportunities that are amenable to private investment

• - Establish and nurture partnerships with various stakeholders in the sector: private developers, technology providers, utilities, and investors

• Regional portfolio growth

• - Evaluate and conduct due diligence on potential partners and opportunities

• - Prepare due diligence reports and present findings to the approval committee

• - Negotiate term sheets and development agreements in collaboration with WaterConnect colleagues

• Regional project development execution

• - Assist the WaterConnect project management team in overseeing project development

• - Support the engagement and management of third-party service providers and vendors

• - Collaborate with co-developers, offtakers, investors, and regulators

• Regional portfolio monitoring and management

• - Ensure accurate, timely reporting on project progress, risks, and associated KPIs

• - Manage local stakeholder relationships

• - Identify opportunities to enhance WSS infrastructure policies and regulations to foster private sector involvement, private investment, and environmental impact

• Cross-functional support

• - Contribute to strategic initiatives of WaterConnect and the broader group of companies as required


⛳️ Requirements

• **Qualifications**

• Required:

• - Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or equivalent related work experience

• - 10 or more years of progressive responsibility and experience in the origination, development, structuring, financing, or advisory of water or other infrastructure projects in South and Central Asia, preferably acquired in the private sector (e.g., developers, investment banks, advisory firms, or infrastructure investors), including:

• - Demonstrated success in business development, with a proven track record of originating opportunities, structuring partnerships, and building key relationships

• - Understanding of private sector participation in water supply and sanitation, encompassing PPP structures like DBFOT, BOOT, HAM, and concessions

• - Experience in the development, financing, or implementation of infrastructure projects, with a comprehensive understanding of the project lifecycle (from origination and feasibility to financial close and commercial operations), including a history of engaging and managing external consultants and coordinating technical, legal, and financial workstreams

• - Proven experience in preparing projects for and achieving financial close, including interaction with lenders, investors, and transaction advisors

• - Strong grasp of infrastructure policy and regulations in emerging markets and their influence on private investment and project bankability

• - Clear understanding of infrastructure investor requirements and processes, including familiarity with project finance structures, risk allocation, and investor diligence expectations

• - Self-motivated & proactive problem-solver

• - Comfortable working in a small, virtual team in a hands-on capacity

• - Multi-country experience in the Central or South Asia Region

• - Commitment to social and environmental impact

• - Proficient in English (both written and verbal)

• Preferred:

• - Master’s degree in a relevant field

• - 15 or more years of total experience

• Physical Requirements

• Role involves regular online collaboration across time zones. Colleagues, partners, and service providers are located in the Americas, Africa, India, and East Asia. This position requires extended periods of sitting and reaching. It also necessitates the ability to see, talk, and hear. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.
