This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +3 more states.
• Create and implement regional business development strategies that facilitate growth in public-sector water and environmental markets.
• Collaborate with Regional and Practice Leaders to pinpoint key clients, target areas, service offerings, and strategic initiatives.
• Analyze market trends, client requirements, and competitive insights to identify growth prospects.
• Promote cross-selling opportunities across various practices, markets, and regions.
• Cultivate and enhance relationships with municipalities, public agencies, industry groups, and strategic partners.
• Suggest and prioritize investments that align with long-term growth goals.
• Lead the business development team in meeting bookings, revenue growth, profitability, and market positioning objectives.
• Set clear priorities, expectations, and performance metrics.
• Ensure disciplined management of the pipeline, forecasting, opportunity qualification, and pursuit planning.
• Track key performance indicators, including bookings, pipeline vitality, win rates, strategic account development, client retention, and execution of capture plans.
• Direct resources toward the highest-value opportunities and guarantee consistent application of business development tools and processes.
• Provide performance updates and suggestions to senior management.
• Steer the qualification, prioritization, and advancement of strategic opportunities.
• Drive go/no-go decisions and lead discussions on capture planning and pursuit strategies.
• Assist teams in formulating client-centered growth strategies that focus on relationship building and long-term value generation.
• Collaborate with Marketing and pursuit teams to ensure coherence throughout the pursuit lifecycle.
• Conduct reviews of lessons learned to enhance future performance and improve win rates.
• Partner with Client Managers to develop and implement strategic client plans.
• Mentor teams in relationship building, account expansion, and client engagement strategies.
• Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships and generate new business.
• Encourage a proactive, client-focused approach centered on delivering value and establishing trusted partnerships.
• Align client development initiatives with regional and market growth objectives.
• Lead, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing regional business development team.
• Define clear roles, responsibilities, priorities, and accountability measures.
• Assist with recruitment, succession planning, and professional development efforts.
• Work alongside Regional Leaders, Practice Leaders, Marketing, Client Managers, and Operations to fulfill growth objectives.
• Align staffing, investment, and client strategies to enhance business performance.
• Advocate for Woodard & Curran's values while promoting an inclusive, collaborative, and results-driven culture.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
• Over 15 years of experience in business development, sales leadership, client management, or consulting services within the public-sector water, wastewater, environmental, or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven track record in leading business development teams and achieving growth outcomes.
• Experience collaborating with executive leadership, regional leadership, and Practice Leaders to formulate and execute growth strategies across diverse markets and regions.
• Strong skills in strategic planning, sales management, and client relationship management.
• Familiarity with strategic pursuits, capture planning, and account development.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and collaborative skills.
• Ability to influence, inspire, and forge relationships across all organizational levels and with external stakeholders.
