This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.
• Accountable for assisting in the organization, direction, and administration tasks within a designated regional area with respect to overseeing aviation activities and personnel.
• Ensures all regional operations adhere to regulations, operational specifications, and the General Operations Manual.
• Participates as a member of the management team at Air Methods to foster a successful operation.
• Conducts research and reports findings on FRx budget versus actual variances to the Director of Operations.
• Guarantees the completion of aviation management sections of the Base Startup, Closure, and Movement Manual.
• Provides tactical oversight of aircraft integration, ensuring availability and trained pilots to meet operational requirements.
• Attends or assigns attendance to fleet status teleconferences (KPI Dashboard).
• Collaborates with the Pilot Training team to coordinate pilot training for the area.
• Works with the Regional Safety Director on safety-related issues, offering technical and professional support to mitigate or control unsafe behaviors in conjunction with the Area Manager.
• Aids in investigating aviation incidents and performs root cause analyses upon request.
• Submits all necessary reports regarding flight personnel to the Regional Aviation Director.
• Monitors the conduct and performance of aviation personnel to ensure compliance with Air Methods’ policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with Regional Clinical Managers to schedule and conduct initial and recurrent training for medical crewmembers and communication specialists. Oversees compliance with the Computer Training System (CTS) for crewmembers. Provides training in Air Medical Resource Management.
• Responsible for conducting or coordinating ferry and MOC flights.
• Monitors and addresses submissions related to Accidental, Incident, Damage, Malfunction, Operations Reports (AIDMOR).
• Serves as the on-scene representative for all accidents/incidents occurring within the assigned area, in coordination with Area Managers.
• Educates pilots on the Safety Management System (SMS) and the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP).
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be available 24/7 for operational needs.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, along with eight to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience in aviation and air medical transports.
• A minimum of 2,500 flight hours.
• Two (2) years of experience in a Part 135 operation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Professional demeanor accompanied by excellent interpersonal skills.
• Capability to manage and execute a wide range of tasks effectively.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions aligned with essential job functions.
• Proficient in preparing written reports, correspondences, and presentations for senior leadership as necessary.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
• Ability to foster and maintain positive relationships both internally and externally.
• Maintains and promotes objectivity in assessing or evaluating operations, maintenance, fuel quality, and Communication Specialist personnel while ensuring anonymity regarding safety issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Holds an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Airplane or Rotorcraft).
• Must possess a FAA Second Class Medical certificate.
