This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take charge of the entire recruitment process for roles in AI Research, Machine Learning, data evaluations, and ML infrastructure.
• Cultivate a thorough understanding of White Circle’s research agenda, technical challenges, and the candidate profiles needed.
• Collaborate with research leadership and the CEO to outline highly specialized candidate profiles.
• Identify talent from AI laboratories, research institutions, technical startups, universities, open-source communities, and scientific networks.
• Differentiate between Research Scientists, Research Engineers, Applied ML Engineers, and ML Infrastructure Engineers, and evaluate candidates accordingly.
• Assess candidates based on their actual contributions.
• Engage with passive researchers and engineers, effectively communicating the technical significance of White Circle’s challenges.
• Stay informed on advancements in AI safety, model behavior, evaluations, multimodal systems, agentic systems, data quality, post-training, and ML infrastructure.
• Create structured hiring processes that evaluate research depth, engineering skills, creativity, and real-world impact.
• Provide an outstanding candidate experience.
• Monitor recruiting performance and enhance sourcing strategies, processes, tools, and workflows.
• Assist in hiring beyond the primary focus when business priorities dictate.
• A minimum of 2 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with substantial expertise in hiring for Research and ML roles.
• Personal experience in hiring for positions similar to Research Scientist, Research Engineer, ML Research Engineer, Applied Scientist, Multimodal ML Engineer, or ML Infrastructure Engineer.
• Knowledge of the responsibilities, technical depth, and candidate pools for these roles.
• Capability to discuss topics such as LLM training and fine-tuning, inference, evaluations, data pipelines, model behavior, multimodal learning, agent systems, and ML infrastructure.
• Proficiency in interpreting technical profiles beyond mere keywords, job titles, or company names.
• Ability to evaluate the importance of publications, contributions to open-source projects, models, datasets, experiments, and production systems.
• Awareness of where exceptional AI research talent can be located and strategies to connect with candidates beyond traditional sourcing channels.
• Active participation or close monitoring of AI research and engineering communities.
• Capability to establish credibility with highly technical candidates and effectively communicate intricate research issues.
• Experience in recruiting within both the US and European markets.
• Ability to serve as a trusted talent advisor to technical hiring managers and research leaders.
• Comfort in navigating ambiguity and adapting profiles as research priorities shift.
• Willingness and capability to recruit for roles outside of research when necessary.
• Proficient in spoken and written English (C1+).
• A technical or research background in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
