Recovery & Restoration Consultant

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Assist in IT recovery initiatives related to on-premises endpoint and network infrastructure, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Microsoft 365 under the supervision of senior engineers.

• Contribute to the creation of technical remediation and restoration strategies customized to address the impact on a client's environment.

• Execute network containment and isolation protocols on popular firewall platforms in advance of recovery operations.

• Aid in the reconstruction of Active Directory domains, DNS/DHCP, and Group Policy frameworks to establish a clean starting point.

• Support the restoration and validation of virtualized workloads (VMware ESXi, Hyper-V) along with critical file/application servers.

• Assist in the recovery and protection of Entra ID identities, Conditional Access policies, and synchronization with on-prem AD through Entra Connect.

• Aid in the reconstruction of Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams settings.

• Validate and restore data from backup solutions (Veeam, Rubrik, Datto, etc.) to ensure data integrity and cleanliness.

• Implement industry-standard Microsoft hardening protocols throughout the recovery processes.

• Create and maintain PowerShell scripts for regular recovery workflows.

• Keep comprehensive documentation of reconstructed configurations, recovery timelines, and actions performed.

⛳️ Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, IT support, or systems administration roles.

• Familiarity with consulting, MSP, or IT settings featuring a variety of client infrastructures.

• Possession of Microsoft certifications (e.g., AZ-900, AZ-104, MS-900, SC-900) or demonstrable equivalent hands-on experience.

• Knowledge of at least one EDR or security platform (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Microsoft Defender).

• Any previous experience related to incident response, disaster recovery, or high-pressure IT situations.

• Home lab experience or self-initiated technical projects showcasing curiosity and initiative.

• Strong understanding of Active Directory as a centralized directory service for authentication and authorization.

• Knowledge of the differences between on-premises Active Directory and Entra ID (Azure AD) and their respective functions in hybrid identity environments.

• Familiarity with Entra Connect and concepts of hybrid identity synchronization.

• Basic understanding of Conditional Access policies and their significance in identity security.

• Knowledge of PowerShell as an object-oriented shell/scripting language and familiarity with cmdlet naming conventions.

• Clear understanding of the distinction between VM snapshots and proper backups.
