R&D Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Belgium.

📋 Description

• Lead and implement collaborative development initiatives with imec and external partners that concentrate on sophisticated filtration technologies and solutions for microenvironment contamination control.

• Design, plan, and execute experiments that facilitate new product development while generating significant performance data.

• Leverage imec’s state-of-the-art infrastructure and technical expertise to assess and validate innovative solutions for the semiconductor sector.

• Collaborate closely with the CTO organization, Business Units, Product Management, and global R&D teams to ensure effective project execution and alignment.

• Convey technical findings through internal reviews, interactions with customers and partners, and contributions to scientific publications.

• Establish and enhance strategic relationships with research institutions and industry collaborators.

• Track semiconductor technology trends and convert insights into opportunities that promote innovation, business expansion, and market leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in R&D, semiconductor technology, or advanced materials settings.

• Familiarity with semiconductor fabrication processes, chemical manufacturing, wet etching technologies, lithography processes, and related materials.

• A solid understanding of integrated circuit manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, and industry trends is highly preferred.

• Strong analytical skills with the capacity to draw data-driven conclusions and articulate complex technical concepts clearly.

• Exceptional relationship-building and collaborative abilities.

• Capacity to work effectively in an international setting.

• Comfortable operating in cleanroom environments while adhering to necessary gowning protocols.
