Azure IaaS Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Accountable for assessing, engineering, implementing, and modernizing systems (Windows and Azure) within a distributed enterprise network framework.

• Confirm system requirements and offer recommendations to facilitate the transition from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) network to a network owned and managed by the agency.

• Support the Project Manager in creating presentations and reports; prepare and present plans and modifications to the Technical Review Board.

• Contribute to the documentation in the Knowledge Base, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), work instructions, and job aids.

• Assist with risk management efforts to mitigate project risks.

• Facilitate meetings with customers and partners to grasp business requirements.

• Engage in project planning and draft project documents by identifying risks and dependencies.

• Implement Azure infrastructure solutions and may provide oversight and leadership on workstreams across various domains.

• Manage escalations, assess situations, and coordinate the necessary resources to address issues by adhering to delivery practices, evaluating cost implications, and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Will necessitate the deployment of IaaS resources through infrastructure as code, specifically using Terraform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Capability to obtain Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Entry On Duty (EOD) - Active EOD preferred.

• BA/BS degree plus 8 years of relevant experience.

• 5 or more years of pertinent Microsoft Azure IaaS engineering and support experience.

• ITIL Foundation certification (not required to begin but expected to be obtained within the first six months).

• In-depth knowledge of Windows Server Operating Systems deployed in Azure (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS).

• Proficient in scripting and PowerShell.

• Experience in building, configuring, and hardening Windows servers.

• Familiarity with managing the Azure platform using Intune.

• Advanced experience with Azure Active Directory management and administration.

• Ability to deploy and manage IaaS resources through Terraform (Infrastructure as code).
