Quest Designer – Open World Action RPG

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.

📋 Description

• Design distinctive environments where gameplay dynamics and visual aesthetics create unforgettable player experiences that align with the game's creative foundations.

• Collaborate with a diverse team to prototype, refine, and enhance engaging open-world quests and their respective locations.

• Improve gameplay, foster exploration, and offer unique encounter scenarios.

• Take ownership of content, which includes collecting feedback, addressing bugs, and documenting iteration notes from leadership.

• Tackle creative and technical challenges while managing uncertainty and production limitations.

• Execute level designs and quests technically within Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints and basic scripting/coding.

• Create an inspiring game universe and develop captivating quests, activities, and encounters for the upcoming Demiurge game.

⛳️ Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a level designer.

• Proven experience in creating level/world designs and quests using Unreal Engine 5.

• A portfolio link demonstrating relevant experience.

• Strong understanding of the interplay between game systems and world environments.

• Capability to design spaces that highlight game systems or player capabilities.

• Basic knowledge of level design principles, encompassing signposting, metrics, flow, and open-world design.

• Documented experience in generating level/world design content in Unreal Engine 5 with Blueprints.

• Proficiency in collaborating, problem-solving, iterating on designs, and modifying level layouts.

• Skill in translating feedback from colleagues, user playtests, and validation activities into practical iterations.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Enthusiasm for open-world action games.
