Quantum Integration Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Japan.

📋 Description

• Operate and maintain IQM quantum computers in both cloud and customer environments to ensure optimal availability and reliable performance.

• Plan and carry out calibration and service activities in accordance with the requirements of customers and users.

• Conduct on-site debugging and testing procedures.

• Evaluate system performance, detect deviations, and resolve hardware and software issues that impact system behavior and stability.

• Aid in L2 incident resolution and provide technical support for customer systems.

• Execute testing, debugging, and calibration during the delivery and commissioning of customer systems.

• Serve as a vital link between production systems and R&D, offering structured technical feedback to enhance performance, usability, and reliability.

• Create and improve service documentation, protocols, and laboratory best practices.


⛳️ Requirements

• Master’s degree in quantum physics, experimental physics, engineering, or a related discipline.

• A PhD is regarded as a plus.

• Experience with complex experimental or high-tech systems, including superconducting circuits, cryogenic setups, RF systems, or similar advanced hardware environments.

• Strong comprehension of quantum computer architecture and calibration, as well as dependencies related to system-level performance.

• Background in troubleshooting hardware and software integration issues within research or production settings.

• Capability to analyze experimental data and pinpoint root causes of performance discrepancies.

• Proficiency in Python or a comparable programming language.

• Experience in documenting procedures, experiments, and technical findings in a systematic manner.

• Ability to take ownership of tasks, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively with R&D, engineering, and customer-facing teams across different time zones.

• Commitment to reliability, safety, and ongoing improvement.

• Exceptional communication skills in English and Japanese, with the ability to convey complex technical subjects to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Willingness and capability to travel to customer locations as required.
