This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Evaluate a daily selection of mortgage applications, both pre-funding and post-funding, for adherence to nesto Group policies, underwriting criteria, and regulatory standards.
• Analyze file data, financial documents, client information, broker and insurer communications, and legal papers to spot deviations from established policies.
• Detect unusual activities, suspicious transactions, and invalid documentation by utilizing insurer “Heads Up Files” and internal referrals.
• Perform initial investigations and take appropriate actions on questionable files to reduce misrepresentation risks and potential losses.
• Compile QA reports detailing findings and recommendations, and carry out additional analyses as instructed by Risk or QA Management.
• Assist in partner, investor, and insurer audits from the preparation phase through to the resolution of identified issues.
• Help manage, periodically control, and review approved lists as well as AML lists.
• Regularly conduct QA/QC reviews in a timely, efficient, and objective manner.
• Offer guidance, insights, and recommendations to underwriting personnel and stakeholders regarding credit matters, loss mitigation, flood/property risks, and training opportunities.
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in mortgage approval/adjudication.
• Familiarity with the mortgage broker channel is considered an asset/preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint).
• Skilled in Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Docs).
• Experience with CRM and workflow tools, including Salesforce.
• Strong knowledge of both internal and external insurer guidelines.
• Practical understanding of fraud implications, detection techniques, and prevention strategies.
• Possesses analytical thinking and negotiation/problem-solving skills to recognize trends and anomalies in underwriting practices.
• Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage and prioritize urgent requests effectively.
• Willingness and ability to make difficult recommendations when necessary.
• Fluent bilingualism (French and English) is preferred.
