This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom, +3 more countries.
• Maintain records for the Quality Management System (QMS), audit schedules, and safety policies in accordance with BRCGS, HACCP, and UK/EU food regulations.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for co-manufacturers and ingredient suppliers.
• Manage the onboarding of suppliers, including audits, certifications, and technical approvals.
• Take ownership of specifications for finished products and packaging.
• Assess artwork for accurate labeling.
• Administer retailer technical portals.
• Conduct allergen risk assessments across various product lines.
• Validate line-clearance protocols, clean-down procedures, and matrix management to mitigate cross-contamination risks with co-packers.
• Lead mock recall exercises and manage the operational response plan for product incidents.
• Ensure complete traceability throughout the supply chain.
• Oversee microbiological, chemical, and sensory testing in laboratories.
• Supervise shelf-life studies, nutritional verification, and Certificates of Analysis.
• Conduct root-cause investigations for non-conformances and consumer complaints.
• Implement corrective action plans effectively.
• Support compliance for New Product Development (NPD) and market expansion.
• Utilize digital tools and AI to enhance quality workflows and monitoring.
• Collaborate with Customer Experience on product feedback, Legal and Regulatory on compliance matters, and Commercial and Marketing on product launches.
• Act as the technical point of contact for manufacturing partners, co-packers, independent testing labs, and supermarket retail technical teams.
• Report directly to the Food Supply Operations Manager.
• 2–5 years of experience in the food, beverage, dietary supplements, or fast-moving consumer health sectors.
• Proficient understanding of HACCP principles and compliance frameworks, including BRCGS, SALSA, GFSI, and ISO.
• Experience in evaluating laboratory data, including Certificates of Analysis, microbiological testing, and shelf-life studies.
• Familiarity with writing product specifications.
• Knowledge of UK/EU allergen labeling regulations.
• Practical experience auditing allergen controls and cleaning validation at third-party manufacturing facilities.
• Hands-on experience conducting traceability audits and managing mock or live product recalls.
• Capability to analyze complaint trends and resolve quality issues in a fast-paced scale-up environment.
• Permanent right to work in the UK or EU.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing partners and supplier sites in the UK/EU, approximately once or twice every few months.
• A degree or formal apprenticeship in Food Science, Food Technology, or quality auditing is considered a plus but not mandatory.
• Experience supporting physical product launches outside the UK, particularly in the EU or North America, is a plus.
• Familiarity with major retailer technical portals and due diligence questionnaires is a plus.
• A strong interest in AI tools and digital automation is a plus.
