Python Cloud Engineer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold Python web APIs that are containerized and cloud-agnostic.

• Provision and oversee cloud resources utilizing Terraform.

• Architect scalable infrastructure by applying established design patterns and reference architectures.

• Take ownership of deployments throughout the entire process in a genuine DevOps model.

• Assist the team in managing infrastructure directly.

• Integrate with contemporary SaaS APIs, including GraphQL, as well as traditional FTP.

• Embed observability and security into every design.

• Document architecture using diagrams-as-code.

• Adopt a test-first approach, ensuring quality is inherent.

• Develop and operate cloud-based web APIs.

• Contribute to a product team focused on creating zero-to-one innovations along a multi-year roadmap.

• Optimize AI workloads to scale according to client requirements.

⛳️ Requirements

• Contract position.

• Preferred location: United Kingdom.

• Extensive experience in building and deploying infrastructure on at least one major cloud platform: AWS, GCP, or Azure; openness to work across various platforms.

• Proficiency in Python and Docker for web APIs.

• Experience with Kubernetes in a production environment.

• Knowledge of Terraform; CloudFormation or similar tools is advantageous.

• Familiarity with Git and DevOps practices, ideally including monorepos.

• Experience integrating with diverse APIs.

• Understanding of OAuth2 and OIDC.

• Commitment to a test-first, quality-driven methodology.

• Ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken forms.

• Nice to have: experience with serverless functions, queues, API management, and key-value stores.

• Nice to have: contributions to open source projects.
