Purchasing Agent

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Colorado.

📋 Description

• Foster proactive communication with management concerning purchasing and inventory decisions.

• Create performance reports for underperforming product lines and implement resolution plans.

• Assess daily purchasing reports and prioritize purchase orders based on critical needs.

• Ensure orders reach optimal levels to enhance profit and sales.

• Acquire vendor confirmations, verify pricing and quantities, address issues, and maintain confirmation records.

• Conduct purchase transactions for designated categories.

• Oversee the Back Order Queue and Expedite Queue while ensuring accurate ship dates.

• Collaborate with vendors for updated shipment information.

• Analyze and rectify price discrepancies in coordination with accounting business partnerships.

• Utilize management insights to meet target freight levels and optimize profit margins.

• Evaluate and manage obsolete stock materials, no calc, and aged inventory.

• Control inventory and fill rates for assigned categories.

• Negotiate pricing with vendors and seek products/vendors offering the best prices.

• Manage some commodity purchasing under the general supervision of the Purchasing leader.

• Address missing or incomplete information and resolve inconsistencies or anomalies in complex research/data.

• Provide general guidance or training to junior-level support or professional personnel.

⛳️ Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

• Must successfully complete pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable.

• Typically requires a BS/BA in a related discipline.

• Generally requires 2-5 years of experience in a related field; certification is necessary in certain areas OR an MS/MA with typically 2-4 years of experience in a related field.

• Certification is necessary in some areas.

• Extensive procurement and inventory experience.

• Experience with waterworks products.

• Strategic purchasing experience.

• Vendor relationship management skills.

• Data analytics experience.

• Typically requires overnight travel of less than 10% of the time.
