This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Malaysia.
• Build and maintain relationships with Tier 1 and local media outlets and partners throughout Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and the wider APAC region.
• Contribute to marketing communication strategies, including objectives, budgets, and tactical plans.
• Create a comprehensive media relations plan to achieve prominent placements in print, broadcast, and online media across Japanese- and English-language platforms, as well as additional coverage in regional games, fintech, and web3 events.
• Assist in organizing all public relations efforts, including event logistics and speaking opportunities at significant regional games, fintech, and web3 events.
• Work closely with the integrated marketing manager to produce compelling content for audiences across both traditional and digital media platforms, being mindful of regional cultural norms and platform preferences (e.g., LINE, X/Twitter Japan, Naver).
• Leverage existing media connections and develop new contacts within the business, technology, and gaming industry media across the APAC region, including major Japanese outlets such as Famitsu, 4Gamer, Dengeki, and Game Watch.
• Handle media inquiries and interview requests efficiently.
• Write content for press releases, bylined articles, and presentation scripts.
• Regularly assess opportunities for partnerships, sponsorships, and advertising within the gaming and entertainment landscape of the region.
• Forge relationships with thought leaders, industry associations, and stakeholders in the gaming ecosystem to enhance industry awareness across APAC.
• Stay informed about industry trends impacting clients and the APAC gaming market, providing suitable recommendations regarding the communication strategies associated with these trends.
• Engage in content creation that emphasizes thought leadership, creativity, and the maintenance of a content bank filled with editorial ideas aligned with regional market objectives.
• BA/MA in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
• 6-8 years of demonstrated success in strategizing and executing effective public relations campaigns at both domestic and international levels, with substantial experience in the APAC market, especially Japan.
• Strong connections with both local and international business and industry media outlets across the APAC region, including Japan. Relationships with content creators/influencers are a plus.
• Outstanding writing and editing skills for various formats – short form, long form, branded content, and light advertising copy.
• Experience in PR event planning and execution in the APAC region, particularly in Japan and South Korea.
• Proficiency in managing crisis communications.
• Prior experience in the video game industry is essential; experience in fintech is a bonus.
• Skill in localizing press releases for the Japanese market, along with an understanding of cultural nuances across the region.
