Public Policy Intern

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Observe and learn how the policy team interacts with governmental agencies, Congressional offices, and state legislative offices.

• Enhance research skills by collecting and summarizing information related to sexual assault policy issues and emerging legislative trends.

• Gain insights into the policy development process by aiding in background research and contributing to draft memoranda, policy statements, briefing materials, and correspondence under staff supervision.

• Develop professional administrative and organizational skills through involvement in data entry, document management, and departmental support tasks.

• Understand how policy resources are organized and disseminated by helping to maintain and improve databases, resource libraries, and dissemination tools.

• Acquire experience in monitoring and tracking legislation across all 50 states, learning how legislative developments influence policy and advocacy strategies.

• Engage in team meetings, discussions, and mentorship opportunities aimed at deepening knowledge of public policy, advocacy, and nonprofit operations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student (preferably).

• Excellent writing, research, analytical, and organizational abilities.

• Strong passion for policy work.

• Proven interest in the issue of sexual violence.

• Proficiency in Google Workspace applications (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms).

• Must successfully complete a criminal background check conducted by RAINN.
