Protocol Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in France.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and develop innovative lending mechanisms, liquidation strategies, and oracle integrations in collaboration with the protocol team to deliver production-ready enhancements that expand Morpho's functionalities.

• Create and evaluate production Solidity code for smart contracts that secure substantial total value locked (TVL), with a focus on accuracy, gas efficiency, and simplicity.

• Oversee medium-to-large protocol projects from start to finish, encompassing research, design, implementation, and deployment, while possibly coordinating efforts across various teams.

• Approach protocol design with an adversarial mindset, proactively identifying potential attack vectors, edge cases, and failure scenarios before they are deployed.

• Develop prototypes for new protocol concepts through formal analysis, simulations, or verification to validate mechanism designs prior to full-scale implementation.

• Collaborate with engineering and leadership across functions on architectural decisions to ensure Morpho's protocol stack remains coherent and streamlined.

• Review the team's research and perform literature reviews to introduce external insights and challenge existing designs with new perspectives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (Math, Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Economics) or equivalent expertise.

• Over 5 years of experience in the architectural design and implementation of complex software systems.

• More than 2 years of experience in blockchain research and development, demonstrating a strong record in protocol design and implementation.

• Exceptional capacity for abstraction: able to swiftly grasp intricate mechanisms and distill them to their core elements.

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and contribute effectively to dynamic research discussions.

• A blend of theoretical knowledge and practical acumen: capable of designing elegant systems while also delivering rapidly and making sensible trade-offs.

• Comfortable working in rapidly evolving, ambiguous environments where established protocols may not yet exist.

• A strong sense of ownership and autonomy, taking initiative without waiting for direction.

• Creativity and critical thinking: able to question designs and propose innovative solutions rather than merely executing tasks.

• A team-oriented outlook with a low ego and genuine curiosity about DeFi and the challenges Morpho aims to address.
