This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon.
• Take full ownership of the propulsion subsystem's performance, managing it from architecture design through testing to successful in-orbit outcomes.
• Lead the electric propulsion architecture for a complete EP GEO spacecraft, which encompasses the propellant feed system, integration of Hall-effect-class thrusters, and PPU integration.
• Spearhead the selection of propulsion suppliers and oversee the release of long-lead propulsion procurement.
• Establish propulsion testing requirements and define the necessary test systems and ground support equipment.
• Supervise both supplier and system-level test execution processes.
• Evaluate and accept the results from propulsion tests.
• Manage the EOR/station-keeping delta-V strategy along with the necessary propulsion analyses.
• Assess the in-orbit propulsion performance against initial predictions and relate the outcomes back to the models.
• Collaborate closely with teams in Structures, GNC, Power, Systems, AIT, and mission operations.
• Facilitate the procurement release and the closure of designs for propulsion along the critical path.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in spacecraft propulsion.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with electric propulsion systems (Hall-effect or gridded ion), xenon feed systems, and PPU integration.
• Proven track record in managing propulsion verification, including defining testing requirements, specifying test systems/GSE, and analyzing and accepting test outcomes.
• Knowledge of EOR and station-keeping delta-V analysis for GEO missions, as well as correlating in-orbit propulsion performance with predictions.
• Experience in leading the selection of propulsion suppliers and procuring long-lead propulsion hardware.
