This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany, +2 more states.
• Oversee the effective implementation of assigned projects across the entire project lifecycle.
• Define, organize, and propel project plans forward.
• Coordinate delivery activities, timelines, resources, contractors, budgets, financial aspects, accounting, and risk management.
• Communicate with donors and report on project advancements.
• Ensure that supervised projects adhere to program-level operational plans, IISD policies, strategies, and industry best practices.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with external partners and contacts in beneficiary countries.
• Manage the development of project proposals, financial components, due diligence documents, and submissions to donors.
• Interact with funders concerning grant agreements and review these agreements for compliance with policy.
• Coordinate progress reports, respond to donor inquiries, facilitate project interactions, and organize donor meetings.
• Oversee deliverables, timelines, resource needs, contractor/vendor relationships, and any project challenges.
• Lead the identification, documentation, and mitigation of project risks.
• Create frameworks for monitoring, evaluation, and learning data while tracking lessons learned.
• Manage contractor agreements, approvals, deliverables, and payments.
• Supervise project expenses, budgets, forecasts, cost controls, and accounting records.
• Plan and organize conferences, briefings, seminars, workshops, programs, travel, and other project logistics.
• Maintain project information, status updates, and MEL records within information systems.
• Supervise assistants, set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and support their career growth.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree in a relevant discipline such as project management, sustainable development, or accounting.
• Proven experience in managing complex, multi-year projects.
• Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL).
• Background in finance, accounting, and administration.
• Experience in procurement and contracts management.
• Ability to engage with external stakeholders, including partners, beneficiaries, and vendors.
• Experience in collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as team members and other departments.
• Skilled in gathering requirements and providing updates.
• Authorized to work in Germany, Portugal, or the UK without sponsorship from IISD.
• Project management certification is advantageous.
