This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +5 more states.
• Oversee the comprehensive delivery of SCADA systems and their related communications infrastructure for projects involving wind, solar, and battery storage.
• Direct the safe and compliant commissioning and startup of SCADA and communication systems.
• Activate systems, validate their performance through acceptance testing, and ensure a smooth transition to Operations.
• Establish and secure plant communications networks, which include IP plans, protocols, interfaces, and firewall rules across SCADA/OT/IT equipment.
• Collaborate with plant controller OEMs, transmission operators, and generator owners/operators to set up controls and data pathways.
• Manage energization and commissioning execution plans, encompassing scope, sequencing, readiness gates, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor construction progress remotely and via on-site visits; address field issues and provide programming and field support during the commissioning phase.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure SCADA deliverables align with project requirements and adhere to critical-path schedules.
• Track design timelines, communicate status and risks, and guarantee that critical deadlines are achieved.
• Maintain specifications and configurations for SCADA, power plant controllers, RTUs, and IT/OT equipment.
• Supervise the compilation of complete as-built turnover packages for Operations.
• Assist in technical due diligence alongside independent engineers and project partners.
• Stay updated on technology and best practices through training, conferences, and ongoing education.
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience with transmission, distribution, and/or generation SCADA systems.
• Familiarity with both physical and software components of networking equipment that connects generation assets.
• Proficient in industrial communication protocols and architectures such as OPC, DNP3, Modbus, and EGD.
• Experience working with HV/MV electrical infrastructure, including substations/switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines, transformers, relays, meters, CTs, and PTs.
• Capability to coordinate and manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously.
• Significant knowledge of computer and server operations.
• Strong project management abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and legal authorization to operate a motor vehicle.
• Preferred: experience in renewable power generation installation, commissioning, and site construction.
• Preferred: familiarity with GE WindSCADA, GE WindCONTROL, Vestas Online Business, SEL RTAC, and/or Ignition.
• Preferred: advanced knowledge of SCADA, HMI, PLC, and RTU programming.
• Preferred: working knowledge of NERC compliance for low-impact cyber systems.
• Preferred: ability to coordinate activities across EPC contractors, engineering firms, OEMs, and clients.
