Project Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the execution of engineering tasks across civil, electrical, mechanical, utility, and construction sectors.

• Create comprehensive engineering execution strategies to facilitate self-build campus projects.

• Liaise with utility providers, permitting organizations, consultants, contractors, and EPC partners throughout the project lifecycle.

• Lead the engineering coordination for temporary and permanent power, water systems, and essential site infrastructure.

• Assist in project budgeting, engineering timelines, risk management, and technical planning efforts.

• Manage engineering modifications and address multidisciplinary design conflicts during the construction phase.

• Enhance construction sequencing and engineering workflows to streamline project delivery.

• Facilitate infrastructure readiness initiatives leading up to commissioning and operational transitions.

• Monitor engineering risks, action items, and technical decisions while updating project status to leadership.

• Act as the primary engineering liaison between OpenAI's technical leadership and external delivery partners.

• Promote continuous improvement in engineering coordination, construction execution, and project delivery practices.

• Assist in optimizing water usage, construction sequencing, and overall infrastructure efficiency within the self-build portfolio.

⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field.

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in large-scale infrastructure, industrial construction, mission-critical facilities, energy projects, or data center delivery.

• Proven experience in coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams during both the design and construction phases.

• A solid understanding of engineering project delivery, utility coordination, permitting, and construction execution processes.

• Experience in managing engineering timelines, project risks, and technical dependencies.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
