Industrial Warehouse Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop workflows for pick, pack, receiving, and RMA processes tailored to each site's warehouse layout, aiming to minimize travel distance, maximize throughput, and reduce dock-to-floor time.

• Conduct time and motion studies on warehouse and dock operations, utilizing the data to establish the standard work that each site will train against.

• Create models for rack, dock door, and staging layouts for both new and existing locations, striking a balance between throughput and real estate costs.

• Produce process documentation and standard work instructions that enable a new site to achieve full productivity within weeks instead of months.

• Collaborate with the WMS and IMS system development teams to ensure that new tools align with the physical workflow rather than adapting the workflow to fit the tools.

⛳️ Requirements

• You have experience designing or redesigning a warehouse layout and can demonstrate the resulting improvements in throughput or cost.

• You have conducted a time and motion study and translated it into a standard work instruction that a new employee could easily follow from day one.

• You have modeled dock, rack, or staging capacities based on actual operational data rather than relying on rule-of-thumb assumptions.

• You have collaborated with a systems team to ensure that new software aligns with a real physical process, rather than forcing the process to conform to the software.

• You visit a site, observe actual work processes, and identify inefficiencies that have not been captured in reports.

• Bonus: A background in Lean Six Sigma or industrial engineering, along with experience in data center, manufacturing, or high-throughput distribution environments. Familiarity with warehouse simulation or layout modeling tools is also advantageous.
